In which there is much Gloating

After much gnashing of teeth, I have completed the Ivel Coat.

Just as I finished pressing it with steam, it struck me that it was a perfect match for my favourite winter dress. Considering the number of times I've bees stuck for a coat to match this dress on winter night outings, the colour choice now seems inspired.

I did another suprising thing in finishing this project. Originally I had used a colour of kidsilk haze called Dewberry, a pale mulberry colour. I had originally considered the intense fuschia shade Splendour as a match to the Gypsy Wool Cotton. After swatching with both it was a tough decision, but I went with the Dewberry.

For the edging though, I decided to give the Splendour a go. And I love it! As Irene from Janette's Rare Yarns said, it's more of a clash really (than a match with the gypsy) but I think it works. One of my favourite colour combinations is fuschia with chocolate, and it looks a little like that I think. Yum.

I'm off to the beach right now, being tugged at like mad from the three kids (Alan is included here today) to hurry up, but I just couldn't wait to get on the internet and gloat like a bastard! When I get back I'll put it on and take a shot if it on a body. Not a great body, but a body nonetheless.

Edited: OK, back from the beach and took a shot of it on a person. The first shot of any iteration of this coat on a real person on the internet I believe.

But the BEST thing is that I don't have to knit it tonight. Tonight I can knit any damn thing I please. Maybe even something new. And that feeling, the anticipation, the thrill of the choice, it is that feeling that makes the knitting so addictive.

That is... stunning. And so quickly made. Once again I bow to your knitterly talents. I hope it cools down enough for you to model it for us soon.

So beautiful - you're allowed to gloat indefinitely. Can we see the back too?

Gloat you should, all over the internet. It is very, very pretty. I think the touch of intensity on the cuffs and border really "make it work"!
