I made you some yarn. But I eated it.

I thought I might share with you what's going on behind the scenes in knitabulous' highly experimental yarn dyeing department.

Everybody is mad about the grooviness of grellow. I too have been raving on about grellow ever since I found that beautiful flickr photos are tagged with it, and that it helps you get dream jobs.

What I'm trying to achieve is a single skein of sock yarn that has a contrasting toe AND cuff built in. So, you just cast on (either toe up or cuff down but toe up is probably better) and knit the sock until you get to the final contrasting bit, start the cuff rib and finish when you're ready.

Of course, logistically, this is not as easy as it sounds. Firstly, there's the problem of sock length. Then there's the problem of gauge.

Not to mention a problem with tone. It's supposed to be grellow, not grustard!

But, why stop at grellow? Why not Grink? Gred? Graqua? Grue? Grange? Grurple? Grreen?

I can see that this is going to be a lot of fun.

In the meantime, while I've been experimenting, there's lots more yarn in the etsy store, including a skein of grellow sock (wear it to your next job interview), and a gorgeous new squishy base yarn with silk and bamboo in it.

Softsock yarn - grellow

See that shine? That'll be the silk and bamboo that will.
Ultimate sock - foxymoron

This is a civil war quilt kind of red, kind of faded stars and stripes red. I call it turkey red.

Sari pink - I love how the same colour comes out differently in the two yarns, the wool/bamboo/silk is softer, the wool/nylon sock is more vibrant (the wool/silk/bamboo shown here).

My suprise favourite this week - a variegated yarn inspired somewhat by Kaffe Fasset's new sock yarns - I called it Kenya Sunrise.

I hope you enjoyed looking at these.
