Niddy Noddy makes a good baby, in a pinch

I finally finished a project. It's the Drops Garter Baby Jacket, made in Colinette Jitterbug in Salty Dog and Oyster Blush.

Between the images on Sarah Durrant's page not looking anything like the actual colour of the yarn in the flesh and the image here not looking anything like the item in the flesh either, you'll just have to beleive me when I say the blue is a little greener, and the taupe is a little warmer than the image.

I've photoshopped and flickr edited and tried and tried, but this colour correction lark is a mighty PITA. If only the iphone had an app for it.

I have never knitted a DROPS pattern before, and this one was an absolute dream. The yarn is wonderful for the simplicity of garter stitch, I managed perfect tension, the colours look great together, and the short rows gave the project enough oomph to make it a very fast, very satisfying little knit. This project may well have converted me to gift knitting!

Now, as for the recipient. At least four of my friends and relatives are either expecting or just had a newborn. This could be for one of your babies. Then again, maybe it's for that girl at work. One thing is for certain, the actual recipient won't remember it either way, but I really hope mum likes it.

I love that pattern, and it looks fabulous on a Niddy Noddy so it would be even more 'fabulouser' on a baby!!!

OMG, the cuteness! I made something like this 35 years ago - it was in red and white stripes, beautiful yarn like this being unobtainable at that time. I think I've still got the pattern somewhere. it's just lovely.

It's fabulous. Love the colour combo.

I love this pattern - it was on my list for the dotee but she was in the wrong climate at the wrong time and grew too quickly (and I knitted too slowly). And your colour choice is, as always, wonderful.

Oh it's lovely - I've never tried a Drops design before, although I love a lot of their stuff, so it's good to know that they work well (well, that THIS one works well at least :)
