Is there such thing as free yarn?

The new merino sock base arrived, and I've dyed some.

I am insanely pleased with it, it has that beady twist that screams 'indie dyer' to those in the know, as well as a fabulous gloss, superwash properties and generous 110g+ weight to allow for a no-stress pair of socks.

I can't stop taking pictures of it.

But I need help.

I need one or two people to help me put this yarn through it's paces. The reward will be one skein of the yarn in a custom colourway of your choice - plus the (dubious) glory of public acknowledgement on this blog and on a swing-tag on the sample at the Canberra Wool Day in May. And my undying gratitude.

I need the following:
one pair of socks in my design
one Bollywood shawl

they need to be completed by early May.

I'll supply pattern and yarn and pre-paid satchel to get the sample back to me, and any pattern support you may need. You will need to be familiar with sock knitting and lace knitting on both sides, but they're both pretty easy patterns. Probably not for absolute beginners, sorry.

So, any of you at a loose end with no projects on the go?

Leave a comment (and make sure I can contact you from it) if you're interested.

Otherwise stay tuned - the knitabulous yarn website is well underway and almost ready to launch !!!

I would absolutely love to help you out as I am trying to knit more socks at the moment. I have knit 2 pairs of lacey socks so far and they turned out so nicely but I just need to add that I knit mine from the cuff down! Please let me know if I can help you out.

I'm there, is you need somebody willing. Can have the shawl done and on its way back to you within 72 hours of getting the yarn.

That also explains your last cryptic blogpost. How very, very exciting.

Your photos look absolutely amazing! I think I may need to think about splurging some more money at your store...

Oooh free yarn! Count me in for help if you still need test knitters. Would prefer to knit the socks instead of the shawl, but open to both for the opportunity to try out how the yarn knits up.

So many pretty colours - can't wait until the website goes live!

i am up for knitting the bollywood shawl but not the socks, and you may need to do the blocking yourself if you want it severely blocked as i may not have room (depending on the size of the shawl.

Lovely yarn. Looks like you have many offers of help in knitting the socks & shawl. I am also available if you need more hands - no problems with toe-up socks or shawls.

Hi! I'd love to test-knit the shawl! I just finished my current shawl two days ago and I'm hanging for a new project :) Plus, I love a deadline!
