Something red at long last

In the nerve-wracking lead up to the OBDM markets, and following the tragedy of the dog and the silk lace (which I'm almost ready to rectify) - I started (and finished) a very quick knit.

It was a perfect combination of mindless meditative knitting and fun pattern changes - with great details like short row yoke shaping, i-cord edging, genius raglan seams and side to side construction.

It was an impulse cast-on, and before I knew it, it was done! I would highly recommend this knit to anyone. In fact I'd like to do another one myself in Malabrigo Pearl Ten. Or Bendigo Luxury 10 ply in that nice steely blue colour.

Project Details

Pattern: Vine Yoke Cardigan by Ysolda Teague published in the Fall 2009 Twist Collective.

Yarn: Bendigo Woollen Mills Luxury 8 ply in Brick Red. Gorgeous yarn.

Needles: 4.5mm

Modifications: I knit the 40" size, but because my gauge was a bit tighter than the pattern allowed, I added a few repeats across the sleeves. Then I had to add a few short short rows to get the yoke and the edge patterns to stay on the same line. Then I had to remember how many repeats I added for the other sleeve. Then I had to fudge the other sleeve the same way as the first, which wasn't entirely successful. Note to self: try taking notes next time.
