The postal system is amazing

This arrived on my doorstep yesterday. After being packed in the Netherlands, it was taken to a post office, where human hands deciphered the country, it was loaded onto at least one plane, arrived somewhere in Australia, more human hands sorted it and human eyes read the label, identified the postcode, then another human found the right street, the right house, the right door - I can't think of a service really that offers better value for money. I think postage is amazing.

These kits are just astounding, not just because of the great yarn and pattern (and the little laminated card with the salient part of the chart for travelling), but because of the ingenuity of the packaging and the fizz of the little suprises.

La Digitessa came to me with a supercute clutch of handmade stitch markers, a generous sample of what I believe is the wollmeise laceweight in an intense orange, a chocolate, a gift card, a cute badge 'friends don't let friends knit drunk' (which isn't photographed), and lovely little embellishments all packed into a cellophane cone with a hot pink ribbon.

Looking at the projects on ravelry, my digitessa colourway is a lot more burgundy than the original batches. I got my skein of dunkle kirsch twin out and put them together - they're very similar. So I don't think I'll knit the la digitessa with digitessa, I think I'll use one of the knitabulous yarn colours instead.

So that's my plane knitting sorted for my trip overseas in October - at least I've got my priorities straight!

The next compelling issue is this : what am I going to wear in PARIS? (I can hardly beleive I am saying that - we're going to Paris). Apart from the tourist stops - Any must-do suggestions for Paris anyone? Yarn stores? Cheese shops? Restaurants? I'd love to hear from you ..

all i think of in relation to paris is art. dont forget the art! and agree, i think one of your red-orange colourways would work better with digitessa, i thought of dunkle kirsch when i saw that cone last night. speaking of which, why did i even give it back you? gah stupid me....

They are great kits, the Yarnissima ones, aren't they. It's a fab pattern too.

Oh, and did I mention my envy of your trip already??!!

Oh, that is a pretty kit! And as for Paris... so much good stuff! Cafe Angelina and Les Deux Magots - great cafes. Shakespeare & Co is an English language second hand book store just near Notre Dame and is just so quirky. Versailles is always fun. But basically, just wander! Paris is made for long walks!

La Droguerie of course! line up at the counter on the left at the back and someone with perfect english will give you their undivided attention when it is your turn - magic.
at the Bon Marche the same thing - a personal shopper will guide your button purchases (you must buy buttons there - they are amazing - and lightweight) tell Alan there is a good sports bar across the road where he can wait for you ;-)

Macaron - from La Duree on the Champs Elysees are a must - buy 6 in a little box, then you can keep the buttons in the box...

and I agree with Gidgetknits - we walked and walked and walked

so jealous and so happy for you!
