GOLD!

Our family has undergone the biggest change in it's dynamic in six years. I have, under almost no duress, returned to fulltime employment.

The most surprising thing about it is that I am LOVING IT!. And I certainly wasn't expecting that. The least surprising thing is that I haven't been able to knit as much. Which, if the truth be known, was to me, the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of the household finances - but I did it.

The first casualty was the ravelympics2008. I had entered three events under Team Oz, but will only be able to finish one under the new limited-time for knitting regime in this joint.

Still, I think it's a good one. It's called Red Emperor, and is available as a free ravelry download.

(FREE - and works for everyone - no ravelry membership needed)

What do you think?

You get a big Gold medal from me! First of all, congrats for taking the big step and returning to work---something I'm still finding the courage to do. And then the shawl...I totally love it. So much of what I'm seeing lately strikes me as rather ho-hum, boring, already done/not new, etc. but your Red Emperor was a refreshing WOW! I can't wait for you to have the time to write/chart the pattern. I'm gonna start digging around for the perfect yarn. Thank You!!!

Red Emperor looks great! Thought it looked intriguing the other day, but forgot to ask. I'm all in favour of shawl patterns that keep you interested in what you're knitting.

I saw it on Ravelry, fell immediately in love and even have the perfect yarn that has been waiting for the right project: Malabrigo Lace in Pagoda. Congratulations on a great design.

Gorgeous! I've queued it :)

I'd love to knit it in a pearly colour or a sapphire blue (or red like yours, but I don't really wear red) and call it a Chinese dragon...

Now I have one more thing to put on my needles, can't wait to get started.
