Oh I don't think my nerves can take it ..

The yarn harlot once commented on my old blog. I didn't think my nerves would take it, I said I needed a bex and a good lie down. Then she commented again and asked what a bex was. I fairly needed a box of bex after that.

Anyhow, if I said that was the beginning of a beautiful friendship I'd be lying. As much as if I said talking to Nicole Kidman about knitting at the Stitches and Craft fair last year at Darling Harbour made us besties.

And did I tell you about the time I told Nicky Epstein I could get Hugh Jackman in the sack in a heartbeat, and she said she'd fight me for him?

No? How about this conversation?:

Mel (in front of very attractive American knit magazine editor): "Ailsa, have you met xxx?'
Me: 'Umm, no.'
Mel: 'xxx, Ailsa designs lovely things, don't you Ailsa?'
Me: 'Umm. I wouldn't really call it designing, but, umm, dunno, umm, yair.'
xxx: 'Nice to meet you Ailsa. We're having such a wonderful time in Australia, and we're always looking for fresh designs, you're more than welcome to contribute one day. Here, have my card.'
Me: 'Umm. Thank You.'

I took the card, mumbled something unintelligible, and sloped off. It isn't until about five minutes later that I looked at the card.

Oh my nerves. Carla Scott. I have Carla Scott's business card. And all I could say was 'umm'. Not my finest hour.

Have I dropped enough names in this post yet or what?

Anyhow, my nerves are playing up again. And that's because I've had my first design published in a magazine. No, it's not vogue knitting. It's our very own Yarn Magazine. On Page 11, 12 and 22 there's a design for a pink stole called Rain, and it's my design.

It's a funny feeling, seeing your stuff in a real magazine. And not entirely pleasant. I really don't think my nerves are going to take it at all.

My design is the Top Down Fitted Sweater in the mag and like you, it's my first time in a magazine (but I'm in Sensual Knits also).
I have to say, your design is the one I love the most in this issue!

Oh that's so nice of you!

That sweater would suit any yarn of course. As you've probably noticed, the edges roll a tad but they do not roll on my original sweater I made with a cotton blend so I'm positive it's because of the corn fiber I used!

I was thinking the same also, your stole is definitely on my list. ;)

Have a lovely day...
