Not really a post about Knitting Camp

I finished my Summer Solstice Cardigan, and I wore it to the annual knitting retreat hosted by the lovely owners of my local yarn store C K & R Daisy Designs.

The very creative and stylish Margarita kindly took some pictures around the grounds of me in my cardigan. I'm so pleased to finally be able to post some pictures of me that I like!**

All the details here on the rav project page - it's a knit that I thoroughly enjoyed and would definitely knit again.

Also, Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool is a gorgeous yarn. I wish it was readily available in Australia, but great deals on it can be found at Paradise Fibers - their postage is super fast and very reasonable too.

** Ignore the incriminating pictures of my evil twin half sozzled, in a velvet caftan from the opshop, wearing a tiara, and possibly giving the finger that you might find on Facebook or Twitter. What can I say? We had a LOT of fun!

the dog ate my homework

The dog did really eat my homework.

No really.

And it's not even my dog.

All sympathetic comments will be gratefully recieved.

That is all.

My very clever friend

I know some people have knitpicks sets, which are nice and tidy. Not me.

Me - I have this.

I rang my friend Donna and got her out of bed on Tuesday morning on my way to work.

"I want you to think about something. I want you to think about how you'd go about making a reinforced kind of rollup with little loops on it for circular storage. The kind that you can hang on a coathanger. I've seen them on the internet over the years, and have always wanted one. I haven't seen one for a long time, come to think of it. I think it'd be a goer on your esty store."

"hmm? yeah? I'm going back to bed now"

So that was Tuesday morning. Tuesday night she said to me she'd been 'thinking' about what I'd said.

Today is Thursday. Donna visited today, and look what she brought with her - a prototype for a circular needle roll.

I just LOVE it. It has sheep on it! Finished with the precision and detail of a trained dressmaker, this needle storage solution is one of the finest I've seen. And, lucky me, I get to keep it!

While she was here I took some pictures of the other things she has in her store ...

I beleive you can learn sewing, theoretically, like me - but have no propensity for it whatsoever. I look at these bags and the workmanship is amazing. Lucky me, to have such a talented friend!

Mountain Fold

A simple sock pattern that shows off a handpainted yarn with lots of texture.

The tumbling diamond pattern looks like origami folds, hence the name, Mountain Fold.

And, for the first time ever, I've put it for sale on ravelry. EEEP!

ALSO, in case you're wondering - this colour is in no way a spoiler for the Black Japan club first instalment. It's more of a very bright green herring!

Sorry I'm late - it was ravelry's fault.

1. Got a great price on some tweed yarn from Paradise Fibers - bought from a click on the 'get this yarn from' ad on ravelry.

2. Found and bought the perfect pattern on Ravelry - bought from a click on a 'pdf for sale' link on the pattern page.

3. Found an amazing modification done by Roko's through the projects search, clicked through to her blog, and instantly found another blog to love.

4. Amazing modification adds so much more knitting to this cardigan, and I knit so much on it that I flared up my CTS in my right wrist. Found some really helpful advice on the ravelry forums which directly relates to me, I've noticed before that I curl my wrists when I sleep.

5. Looking for a distraction, discovered the definition of cute in these little baby merry janes on ravelry. Bought pattern directly through ravelry.

6. All patterns now permanently available in my ravelry library. Computer crash? No problem!

7. Got an iphone app that transfers the pdf's from my ravelry library to my iphone. How freaking great is that!?

And knitted these as a distraction. Aren't they just completely adorable? So, do you know anyone having a baby soon? ;-)
