Didn't we have a loverly day the day we went to Berrima

A beautiful day.

Rhubarb and apple pie on a porch.

We admired the The Gumnut Bakery's impressive Easter Show Medal Tally.

But everywhere else businesses seem to be closing down or already abandoned.

How's this for a potentially beautiful yarn store?

Even the old stalwart Peppergreen Antiques is closing down, everything is 50% off. Whoever was working there on Wednesday seemed to be already over it. I rummaged through the embroidered napkins to find these six swedish style linen treasures. The colour of these old leather buttons really appealed to me.

And, look what I found in the old knitting patterns section! An original Weldon's Practial Knitter .. 'always in print'

It's so nice to remind yourself that these kinds of lovely places are just an hour or so away. I really should do more daytrips - I enjoy them so much.

I didn't realise Peppergreen Antiques was closing - what a pity. So much in Berrima seems to be changing.

We were there a few weekends ago and it was so sad to see Peppergreen Antiques closing and that so many other businesses have already closed. We understand that the owner of the Antiques shop is ill - which is even sadder.

oh an original weldons! swoon! i get completely overwhelmed in that store. but a good yarn store is sadly missing from berrima, too many tacky gift shops now. will be interesting to see what emerges in their place.

I think I need to get cashed up and go back for some of those French fashion prints.

oh I love berrima! we were there a few months ago and I couldn't believe how many places were closing down, it was packed on a sunday when we visited. I loved the alpaca store and the kids loved the huge alpaca outside!

those napkins are gorgeous
