More 2011 - this time with stats!

In 2011 I accomplished something I have always wanted to do, but never thought I'd ever be able. I learned to run! Sure I do it in intervals, but still - I totally get there.

According to runkeeper, a gps tracking fitness program that tracks everything - I started in April 2011, and I ran 96 times and covered a distance of 507 km.

My busiest month was August, when I ran a total of 127 km. It was also my fastest average month, with an average pace of 7.59 min/km.

So now I feel confident in my ability to actually do running - it's time to work on different issues - my weight and my speed. So I signed up for something. It's a little cheesy. It's kind of embarrassing. But so many people have had such wonderful results, and it looks like a ton of fun.

I'm going to do Michelle Bridges' 12 Week Body Transformation program - the all singing all dancing social media integrated email based exercise and diet program that starts as a team and ends in a group workout and a big party. To be honest, it's the prospect of big party was probably the hook that got me the most. I fear it's going to be tough, but fun!

And hopefully, by the end of the 12 weeks, I'll be able to run 5k in under 30 mins, and by extension 10k in under an hour. That's my fitness goal.

And when I do the Blackmore's Half Marathon next year, I want to look equally as happy but not quite as heavy as I looked last year.

And all I want for Christmas in 2012 is some collarbones.

Congrats! I'm pulling for you! I should strap my running shoes back on, but...I don't want to take time from my knitting. :)

This spring. Hopefully!

Good on you! I try to walk each day, and sometimes while walking I think about putting a bit of running in, but I don't think my fitness would allow it for long. I am so impressed by what you are doing.

I completely missed this post, thank you Google reader. Firstly, love the pink shoes. Secondly, it was great to see you work towards this goal last year. I hope the year ahead brings you the energy and motivation to do whatever helps you feel good about yourself. you deserve it.
