When I look back on my posts from one year ago, so much has changed in our lives I can barely beleive it.
It seems fitting then that the single indulgent splurge purchase from Paris last year has been given an anniversary present, a charcoal lace topper. I was hoping that even though it's definitely lace, the charcoal-ness might make it a little less nana. Now that it's on the table, I think maybe it could do with being a little larger. Luckily, being modular, that is entirely possible in the future.
In the meantime, project specs:
Pattern:
Dahlia Cardigan from Interweave Knits Fall 2011. The only knitting pattern resource I had for three weeks during the house move. I made four of the lace centres (meant to be the back of the cardigan).
Rav Project: Foursquare
Yarn:
Clever Country cotton from Hobbysew in charcoal. The stash was packed away, so I had to buy yarn. 6 balls, but there's almost a full one left.
Needles:
3.25 mm circ and then a 3.5mm hook to go round.
Modifications:
Well obviously I didn't make a cardigan. Four of the centre squares, cast off using a lace cast off method. Then crocheted around in a made up fashion, joined together on the fly, and one last crochet row around the whole thing to finish off.
I've started another project, which really is quite insane. A chevron blanket, made of fine laceweight linen. I'm trying not to think about how long this might take - I really wish I had a knitting machine. Honestly.
